The European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) is the biggest event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe, organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy and the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA).
In 2025, EUSEW will be held in a hybrid format, with onsite events in Brussels and online, on 10-12 June, 2025. The theme of the event is ‘Powering a fair and competitive green transition’. The European Sustainable Energy Week consists of a 3-day Policy Conference, the European Sustainable Energy Awards Ceremony, the Energy Fair and the sixth edition of the European Youth Energy Day. The wider EUSEW community can actively shape the event in multiple ways – whether by hosting a policy session during the event week or participating with their local activity as a Sustainable Energy Day.
EU-funded projects: REVERTER, EP-0 and RENOVERTY
Based on field evidence from three EU-funded projects, namely REVERTER, EP-0 and RENOVERTY, the discussion will begin by highlighting how outdated or misaligned subsidy schemes create bottlenecks, failing to reach those who need them most or inadvertently inflating costs. Three project representatives will delve into the structural challenges faced by low-income and marginalised communities, such as insufficient upfront financing, complex application processes, and the lack of tailored support mechanisms, across various European countries, including Italy, Portugal, France, Greece, Latvia and Bulgaria. Innovative solutions will take centre stage with stakeholder panellists, including best practices in designing equitable subsidy models, leveraging private-sector partnerships, investing in collective buy-in schemes, and implementing community-driven policy initiatives.

Project manager and architect, Fundació Europace
Maria Font is an Architect and Project Manager, with over a decade of professional experience. designing and managing on site energy-efficient renovations. She is adept at overcoming the unique challenges homeowners face during energy renovation retrofits.Currently, she is advising seven municipalities to promote energy-efficient renovations in highly vulnerable environments and designing One-Stop Shops (OSS) to bust energy retrofits and reduce energy poverty in vulnerable households. In addition to her practical expertise, Maria actively contributes to academia as an Associate Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (ETSAB, UPC), where she specializes in building rehabilitation.
