Maria M. Font Pernil Represents REVERTER at the Energy Poverty Advisory Hub Annual Conference

On October 15-16, 2024, the Energy Poverty Advisory Hub (EPAH) held its annual conference at Espai Francesca Bonnemaison in Barcelona, Spain. This significant event brought together leading experts, policymakers, and project managers to tackle one of the most pressing issues in Europe—energy poverty. Among the key participants was Maria M. Font Pernil, Project Manager and architect at Fundació Europace, representing the REVERTER consortium.

Maria took part in the workshop titled “From Chaos to Clarity: Mastering Data for Effective and Inclusive Policies.” The session focused on leveraging data-driven approaches to alleviate energy poverty, especially through innovative renovation solutions. Key topics included early data collection, development of indicators, and sustainable data collection methods before, during, and after project completion. This framework aims to build more reliable, evidence-based policies that can ease the renovation process for homeowners facing energy poverty.

In a dynamic World Café format, participants discussed challenges and opportunities in three key areas:
  1. Data collection and indicators development: Strategies to gather reliable data at various stages of project implementation.
  2. One-stop shops for cost-effective renovation solutions: Exploring conditions for success to facilitate replication across Europe.
  3. Renovation roadmaps for rural households: Addressing barriers to expedite renovation efforts in rural areas, where energy poverty is often more acute.

The workshop featured contributions from several European projects, including CARE, CEESEN BENDER, Energy Poverty 0, HouseInc, LOCATEE, RENOVERTY, and REVERTER. These projects collectively offered best practices and experiences in addressing energy poverty across diverse contexts.

Maria’s participation highlighted REVERTER’s commitment to fostering effective and inclusive energy renovation policies that improve living conditions for energy-poor households, particularly in rural areas. The event offered valuable insights into how data can drive better policy decisions, making it an engaging and impactful experience for all attendees.
